Simple but Beautiful

Hi again friends!

I'm back to share another fun digi from HeartcraftPaper, her beautiful Single Rose. I don't work with a ton of florals, but this one really caught my eye and I knew I wanted to work with it.

Began but coloring my rose in, I used various shades of Copic Reds and Greens to give it a natural look. I've never seen a flower that's all one shade or that the petals are even in color, I wanted to make sure mine reflected that. The dew drops were colored layering BG10 & B21 to cause an aquamarine color. I touched (barely!) a bit of Tim Holtz Distressed Stickles to the water droplets and a few petal pieces to give some shine!

  

My sentiment is from Brutus Monroe's Seriously Sentimental Stamp Set, I stamped with Catherine Pooler's Peppermint Scrub (available at Crafty Doodle Chick!) I filled in the hearts with a bit of black pen. The patterned paper is from a retired Stampin' Up DSP pad. I finished it off with some Stampin' Up rhinestones.

This card is super simple compared to a lot of things I've done lately, but I really wanted this beautiful rose to be the star!

The One With The Friend

Hello friends!

It's my favorite time of the month! Kindred Stamps release week! We have a really awesome variety of sets for you this month. I get to share "The One With The Friend" with you, and as usual, I'm in love! This set features 6 BFFs and is packed full of sentiments, I love how easily you can make these guys work for anyone in your life! I used this set to make 3 cards, I hope you enjoy!

I started with a pair of stinky cats. Some days, I craft at work (I work in a call center and coloring while answering phones is a really nice perk if I'm being honest!). These stinky cats were colored, and the card was built at work, so it's super simple.

I used a precut base and some retired Stampin' Up DSP to create a layered background. I had precut a few die cuts a while back and had this nice rectangle of SU Crumb Cake CS that looked great behind the kitties. I tried to color the cats so they looked a little dirty and smelly, I used a my Copic blender a lot to add that rough texture to my coloring.  I added some "stink lines" above their heads.

The "it's not your fault" sentiment was perfect for these cats. I hand cut my banner and popped it on some foam tape. I finished the card off with a few sequins from the Kindred Stamps Owl Post Shaker Pack. A nice and simple card to send when someone is beating themselves up over something that isn't their fault (I may need to mass produce this!)

For my next card, I used the Karen Burniston Twist Panel Pop Up Die to give a unique twist! I knew I wanted to make a birthday card, because my stash is severely lacking... Like bad! I got this great Newton's Nook Confetti Stencil and hadn't had a chance to use it, so it came on out! I used a few of my SU inks that are bright and cheerful with a blender tool to make the outside POP! 

As you kno, one of my favorite things is buildable sentiments! Kindred Stamps really tries to work the most sentiments in for their customers and this one makes me super happy! I broke out my brand new Brutus Monroe Mermaid Tail Embossing Powder for the sentiment, I am kinda in love with this stuff! In the picture it looks ok, in person, it looks awesome! To finish the front of the card, I chose to use the Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiments die cut, the large part of the sentiment fit perfectly and then I sized it down for the small piece!

Next came the fun part! The inside of the card has four of the BFFs. I used the frames included with the Karen Burniston then covered them with a few different colors of Tonic's Nuvo Embellishment Mousse to create unique backgrounds. My BFFs were colored up using Copics.

 

I wanted you guys to get a good look at them!

My last card was a little more tricky, I have an awesome friend who works with vellum a lot, I knew I wanted to give these love birds a vellum background. I started by stamping out the lobster included in this set, and heat embossing with black powder (which is super old and honestly, will be going in the garbage and getting replaced soon). After I heat embossed them, I flipped the vellum over and used a red MementoLuxe ink, and a Fantastix dauber stick to color them in. I was ready to be done so I heat set the ink 3 lobsters at a time holding the vellum off the desk to avoid the embossing powder remelting (ask me how I learned it would do that... I dare ya...)

I colored up these two using copics, and a few Brutus Monroe StyleFile Markers. For her, I wanted to give her a lighter, more realistic blond so rather than working in all Yellow tones, I worked mostly in light Earth tones, with just a hint of yellow.

For the sentiment, I broke out the Lawn Fawn sentiment die again but cut the tags off. I stamped using SU Real Red Ink.  I mounted it all on a white base and layered some black CS underneath to give the lobsters some POP.  There is the famous quote about lobsters mating for life, that always makes me think of a newly weds. This card is perfect for a cash wedding gift.

Addison's First Shaker Card!

So, my amazing little sister, Addison, has been itching to try a few of the more taxing card making techniques. I love her desire to learn and the fact that she loves to craft with me, so when she asked to make a shaker card, and I actually had the energy to teach, I said "yes!" Plus, it's been a little while since you've all heard from the Beth Duff Designs, Jr Design Team!

She started by coloring up one of the newest digi releases at Beth Duff Designs, Make Waves. She loved the whale and had to make it a "Shamu" whale... it's a thing in our house, my explaining that "Shamu" is the name of a Killer or Orca whale, and her insisting I'm wrong. Again, she is wanting to learn new things and I recently gave her my old set of Stampin' Up alcohol markers to let her have practice with blending. She used a black Copic on the whale, and the SU markers on the water he is spouting. She also chose to color the puffer fish and the crab. She cut them out by hand.

One of her favorite tools is the Big Shot, so we die cut her sentiment out, which I absolutely adore. I had visions of using it to cover most of a card, and she stole it from me! Next, we broke out another new to her tool, the Blending Tool and Distress Oxide Mermaid Lagoon ink (which I got from Kindred Stamps, you can use that link for 10% off your first purchase!) Addison loved seeing the change once we sprayed water on it and patted it dry. Very watery!

Her next step was building the shaker... let me tell you, I was a bit spacey so we went around in a few circles on that one. Picking the sequins colors was probably her favorite part, I have... a lot of options, but ultimately, she chose Pretty Pink Posh's Strawberry Burst and Sparkling Clear Mix so they stood out from her blue background.

She also chose a sheet from Sunny Studio's Rainbow Bright paper pack that I picked up at Crafty Doodle Chick that looked like waves but wasn't blue, to create her ocean look. She wanted her sentiment tipped a little so we die cut the paper at an angle to make that happen. She chose her water babies placement all on her own!

All in all, I think her first shaker was a success, she now understands that it is pretty time consuming, and that I need to nap before we start one! (True story!)

Quick Fun Makes With Manatee Love!

So, one of the adorable sets that Beth Duff Designs released this Spring, is our Get Kids Crafty Exclusive, Manatee Love.  I NEEDED it, the second I saw it!


As you know, I've been obsessed with No-Line Coloring lately. I used my InkOn3 Fade-Out Ink and stamped out the manatees to color. I used a combination of Copic Markers and Brutus Monroe StyleFile Markers to color the cuties. I wasn't sure what I was going to with them, but they begged to be colored.

For this little heart hugging guy, I decided on a bookmark. My sister sent me a link to some bookmarks on Amazon, and I decided to give them a go!  This project probably took me 10-15 minutes total, INCLUDING the No Line Coloring.

I used my new Altenew Ink Cubes that I got from Crafty Doodle Chick (that link will get you 5% off your first purchase, and I will get points too!). I used various green and pink shades and stamped out the seaweed and clam shells. For the "Hi there", I stuck with my favorite sentiment ink, Versafine in black.

Next, I put my fussycut manatee on a piece of navy cardstock, and added some Nuvo drops around the outside to make it glossy, like water!

To finish it off, I took this fun rainbow ribbon from Fun Stamper's Journey (that's my friend Alex's link, she's pretty amazing and SO SO helpful. I bought it to use with all of my unicorn stamps, but I love the burst of color from the top of the bookmark. My family is full of readers, so I'm sure one of them will get to enjoy this cutie!


Next, I had to used this hilarious sentiment. I just love it. Well, it doesn't really fit on a bookmark does it?  I have a TON of pre-made card bases, so I snagged this aqua striped base from my stack.  I love the idea of this happy little guy brightening someone's rough day.

I used Kat Scrappiness's (my referral link!) Double Stitched Rectangle Die with Stampin' Up Brown Sugar Cardstock for the sentiment, which was stamped in Versafine.  Underneath, I layered a piece of gold cardstock that was pre-embossed with scales.

The left side of the card felt really empty to me, so I took my Kindred Stamps (you get 10% off your first purchase, and I get points!) Mermaid Princess Shaker Pack and some Tombow glue and built a shiny little something in the top left corner. I added a blue shell to the bottom right of the sentiment too. To finish the card off, I used my Kat Scrappiness Clear Droplet Sampler Pack for some air bubbles!

This card probably took me about 20 minutes, that may have been in part because I had too much fun building my shiny something. HEHE!
