Long Hair, Don't Care!

It's no secret that I love princesses, fairytales, and magic. Today's card covers a little of all of those!

I got to play with Kindred Stamps new "Long Hair, Don't Care" stamp set and made my sweetie a Valentine (ok, maybe it was made after Valentine's Day... and he still hasn't actually received it... don't judge me!).

I started by coloring my characters up using Copic markers. I wanted to make her hair pale in some places and GLOW in others so I used extremely varied colors from the Y family. The horse I wanted to look more off-white with a light blonde/tan mane so I chose soft Earth tones to color him with.

My background, I built using the Kindred Stamps Forest Stencil which comes with the negative cuts too so masking it off to do the sky was nice and easy. The Catherine Pooler inks, which have fast become my favorites, I used Eucalyptus and Marti Gras for the trees, and Skylight for the sky. For the ground I used a green Distress Oxide. 

I layered my built background onto a yellow paper from Lawn Fawn's Really Rainbow paper pad which I added a stitched border using The Stamp Doctor's A2 Stitched Layers. I finished my card off with a banner from the same yellow and the sweet sentiment in Catherine Pooler Midnight.

Science Geeks

Hi friends! It's been a while, and for that, I'm sorry! I am SUPER excited about the set that I get to share today. "Science Geeks" is full of cute characters, unique sentiments, and so much fun! I managed four cards with this set for you today.

My first features a cutie in a floral dress. I used some Lawn Fawn Sparkle Cardstock with our Kindred Stamps Sprinkles Stencil and created a sparkly background using Catherine Pooler inks. 

I colored my cutie with Copics, then paper pierced her dress using a floral paper from Simple Stories. I finished her off with a little Nuvo Glaze on her glasses. I layered the card with turquoise and pale yellow cardstock, and added a few enamel drops. I thought this was the perfect birthday card, so I added this awesome sentiment to finish it off.

My next card features two cute lovebirds. I used some retired Stampin' Up DSP, then layered on top of it with some grey card stock that I patterned myself by off-setting the Kindred Stamps Comic Dots stencil with two Catherine Pooler inks. 

My lovebirds are again, colored with Copic markers, and the mister is finished with Nuvo Glaze on his glasses. My sentiment, I decided on the "you matter" stamp, because I freaking love it. I put the sentiment on the Lawn Fawn "say what? gift tags die, it fit perfectly... so why not! 

My next card has the awkward couple... who personally, I think rock! I started with the Catherine Pooler Peppermint Stick background stamp, I wanted to show how "Christmas" items can be used throughout the year. I used the Be Mine ink, to make it perfect for a Valentine's Day card. 

I used a retired Unity stamp set with a couch to create a spot to give. I kept the theme of soft colors with the patterned paper and added the sentiment to a banner on Kraft paper on top of them. My couple is colored with Copic markers, and again, Nuvo Glaze for the finishing touches on her glasses. My card was finished using the Kindred Stamps Sweet Love Shaker Pack.

My last card it one cool dude. I colored him with Copics, and wanted to keep the card fairly simple. I used the Kindred Stamps Spaceship Paneling Stencil with blue and black Catherine Pooler inks. I wanted it to look like an atom... I'm probably totally off though haha.

I added the cool dude to the center of my "atom" after coloring him with Copics. I finished it off with a red square and this super fun sentiment which I popped up foam tape to add some dimension. I hope that you enjoyed my take on Kindred Stamps Science Geeks.

About That Drag Life

It's my favorite time of the month, Kindred Stamps release week! Our newest sets will be available on Friday, November 9th at 8AM Pacific Time. I got to work with the set "Drag Life" which I am SO excited about. I have 3 cards to share, one no-line colored and two with lines. 

We will start with this sassy lady! I colored her in creams and gold. I recently got this frame die from a resale group, it's covered in white Wink of Stella. The background is a piece of gold cardstock, the "Not today Satan" sentiment from "Drag Life" that was stamped repeatedly with VersaFine Claire Nocturne ink.  It's simple, but I seriously love it!

Next, I get to show off my no-line colored card! I selected bright colors for these ladies hair... and I'm obsessed! I went with the Kindred Stamps Star Stencil foiled with Therm O Web Gina K Designs orange foil on black cardstock for the back of my "stage". I mounted this on Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Paper. I then used a brown cardstock and my Penny Black floor die to finish my stage. I placed my ladies, then finished it off with another piece of my rainbow paper and two of the sentiments from "Drag Life."

My last card, I started with Kindred Stamps Comic Dots Stencil turned on it's side. I used Catherine Pooler Pixie Dust and All That Jazz inks blended on white paper. I heat embossed two of the sentiments, in the bottom corner then finished it off with a few sequins from the Kindred Stamps Tutti Frutti Shaker Pack.

Kindred Christmas

It's that time of the month! Kindred Stamps newest release goes live this Friday!!

We are so excited to share this release with you because there are SO many cute sets. I am sharing my card using "Kindred Christmas" this set features, US! The Kindred Stamps Creative Team, Audra, Marcia, Molly, and Me. It has a ton of wonderful sentiments and if I do say so myself, we are pretty adorable.

I started with a sparkly pink card base, then layered a piece of white card stock under a purple glitter card stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Snowfall Backdrop from Kraftgali to create a snowy scene. 

I colored us up using Copics, with a touch of Wink of Stella on Marcia's snowflake. For the sentiment, I chose to use the buildable sentiment "'tis the season to sparkle!" which I heat embossed in Lawn Fawn Rose Gold powder.

Magic Show

 Hi friends! 

I'm so excited to share today's cards! I got to play with Kindred Stamps new "Magic Show" stamp set! My littlest sister, Addison absolutely LOVES watching Penn and Teller's Fool Us, and has taken to wanting to visit the magic shop at Pike Place Market when we spend time in Seattle. Audra and her wife, Dylan, got to see Addison's magic trick on one of our last visits. 

After that, Audra put this amazing set together and that adorable little girl in the set? It's based on my Addie! Naturally, I needed to use Addison's tagline, "Wanna see a magic trick?" on the card using her likeness. I wanted to use Sweet Stamp Shop's Peekaboo Window Die, so I started with a black chalkboard cardstock and sprayed Tonic's Silver Smoke Mica Mist on it and let it dry. The die was super easy to use and I will be making a magic color slider with Addison using it at some point. Next, I colored up my girl, making sure she had lots of sparkles and bright colors.  

I used a Stampin' Up Banner die cut and stamped the sentiment in Catherine Pooler ink, then went over it with Wink of Stella and kinda added a magical effect with the run ink.

Behind the magic curtain, aka Sunny Studio paper, I put the magic trick! I started with some Lawn Fawn paper that looked like a stage curtain to me. Then added "ta-da!" stamped in the same Catherine Pooler ink, and cut out using a Stampin Up Starburst Circle die. 

For her magic trick, the little magician pulled a rabbit out of her hat! I colored all three images using Copic Markers.

The end result is a super cute card that can be used for almost any occasion!

My next card, I wanted to try to created a stage, pieces are a bit rough, but overall, I hope it's cute!

I recently decided to give Rinea Foil Paper a try after seeing my friend Annie's creations (that's her affiliate link). I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do with them, but after looking through the ones I ordered, I decided to keep it simple and used a black sheet with embossed stars for the background. 

This little guy has the best cape and his wand shoots magic stars! I colored him, and the table and cards using Copics and used Wink of Stella for glitter accents!

My floor is kraft paper stamped using Stampin Up's Woodgrain background stamp. Behind my little guy, I used some sparkly sticker paper that I picked up at JoAnn's a while back. I HAD to use the curtain that is included in the Magic Show stamp set to finish off his stage. This guy did a card trick, but there are several options included in this set. 

I finished off the card using Catherine Pooler inks and a Lawn Fawn sentiment die for the "Have a magical birthday" sentiment.

No-Line Coloring!

So, about a month, maybe a month and a half ago, cardmaking goddes/enabler to the max, Lydia Fieldler, posted that InkOn3's FadeOut Ink for No-Line Coloring was back in stock. Well... I had just gotten paid and I was feeling rich and decided this was the brilliant new thing I was willing to try! All of my friends are doing amazing things with alcohol inks, and foiling... both which feel expensive to start and scary to try to me. This no-line thing, maybe I can handle that, I already color every chance I get anyways!

It came in about the same time my stamps for the April Kindred Stamps release did, I decided to dive right in! The first images I colored were these little cuties from We're In a Club. I have been using a combination of markers from Copic, Chameleon, and Brutus Monroe StyleFile. There were definitely errors, and I learned quickly, there are no lines to hold your color in place... Something I apparently depend on! They turned out cute though, and I fell in love with the technique!

I had my images colored but I honestly was unsure of what I wanted to do for a project, the inspiration was a little off with the amount of stress I've been dealing with lately! So, instead of panicking and throwing together a basic card, I started to look through my dies. My amazing friend Kelli Hull, recently destashed and I was the lucky recipient of several AMAZING dies, stamps, and other goodies. In that destash, was a Lawn Fawn Portrait Leafy Tree Background die, it lit an idea for me and this was one of the easiest to put together cards I have ever made.

I used a nice dark brown cardstock for the tree and card outline, then a scrap piece of mossy meadow from Stampin' Up. For the leaves, I chose 3 bright Fall colored papers for leaves and used the leaves 3 time per color.  My leaves got layered and overlapped, top to bottom to give it a real tree look. I had just a few left over, so it was really the perfect amount.

In order to create some depth, I used dimensional strips from Stampin' Up to back the tree scene. Next, I snagged a pretty blue that was a bigger piece in my scrap bin (the two drawers I use are overflowing and need to be used more!) I wanted to keep my sentiment simple with no fancy background or labor intensive techniques on this card (other than the coloring). I lined everything up and then placed it all in my MISTI (unmounted, of course) to get my sentiment lined up where I'd like it to be. After removing my top layers from the MISTI, I stamped using the Classic Memento Tuxedo Black ink. After that I simply built the card!

My next card, I REALLY, wanted the character to be the hero of. I used the no-line technique to color up this baby deer and WOW, was I happy. The kiddos were my first images using it and he is my third. The amount of colors I used to get this look is a bit insane, I filled a post it note writing them down, and again, I used a combination of Copics and Chameleon markers. 

I used Kat Scrapiness Double Stitched Rectangle Dies to create a frame out of Stampin' Up Crumb Cake cardstock.  I used a bright green lightweight cardstock to line the back, then layered a pretty patterned vellum that has ferns and leaves all over it. Again, I used the dimensional strip to pop the frame up. I used a random banner die (I didn't always understand the importance of keeping track of what came from where!) for the sentiment, which to me is ADORABLE! 

I finished the card by placing my baby deer and mounting it on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock! This is one of my cards using Kindred Stamps new release, Forest Friends!

We have some of the most adorable stamps I have seen yet coming out this month and I think you'll all be SO excited too! We've changed a few things up this month, and we've introduced a Design Team to our group! These ladies are INCREDIBLY talented and will be with us for the next several months! We couldn't be more excited to be working with them! We also have Guest Designer, Lois with us AGAIN, because we love her so much.

Something a Little Different!

Hey all!! This month's Kindred Stamps release is already here!! I'm EXTREMELY excited about this set and decided to try something a little different this month! 

First, I found a very neat Step Card Tutorial on Pinterest and knew it was right for Kindred Stamps new set, "Yo Ho"! I decided to create a dock for the pirate to stand on using a retired Stampin' Up Woodgrain background stamp on kraft paper. I cut small strips of the large block and drew on small back "nails" on the ends to make the wood planks.  I colored the pirate using various Copics and StyleFile Markers from Brutus Monroe.

Next, I used my new favorite, shiny origami paper to create the layers of water, the layer closer to the dock I left smooth. For the back layer to add more of a choppy waves feeling, I crumpled the paper up and added texture, then cut the top into a rolling wave look.  My base was made from retired Stampin' Up chalkboard paper, I am not sure what I'm going to do when I run out of this stuff, I love the thickness and weight of it!  

I wanted to create a kind of stormy sky to contrast with the pretty blue water. To do this, I smudged Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Antique Linen over the black paper. After that dried I used Brilliance white ink and a dauber to create the clouds. I finished it off with a simple "Yo Ho" sentiment!  The back of the card can have a piece of white cardstock added to leave space for writing on.

My next card also features Kindred Stamps' "Yo Ho", I used Lawn Fawn's Shadow Box Card Die to created a light blue base. This die cut was VERY easy to use and created an awesome look!  I chose not to use any sort of sentiment on this one, but colored in the pretty lady and the ship again. 

I wanted the water to be a little different this time, I retrofitted the hills that come in the die kit with Wave CutUps from The Cat's Pajamas, I chose to do layers to add depth and add the ship to it.  I just got this amazing Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Kiss in Sahara Gold and decided it would be excellent to create a beach for pretty lady to stand on!  This brand comes with a built in sponge and so I dabbed it on and left it rough, it created a pretty, glittery, sandy beach.  Lastly, I finished the background off with clouds using a Lawn Fawn die! 

I hope you've all enjoyed my "something a little different" attempts this month.  Our release this month is much smaller than the past but personally I think the sets are fantastic! We've also got new Shaker Packs, and maybe another surprise up our sleeves, I can't wait for you to see!
